Trace Laboratories has been actively involved with air monitoring projects since its inception in 1989. The majority of our work has involved indoor air monitoring for a variety of pollutants such as carbon monoxide, methane gas, formaldehyde, volatile organic solvents and vapors, mineral oil mists, particulates, trace metals, asbestos, welding fumes and PCB's. We have recently added the capability to conduct mold spore sampling and identification to our list of services with the advanced training of our air quality specialist at McCrone's Microbiological Institute of Chicago. To date, we have conducted numerous air sampling projects for a variety of industrial, governmental and residential clients. Our air sampling division has four SKC "Air Check" personal air monitors which are worn by personnel to facilitate the sampling of breathing zone air. Such testing is conducted to ensure compliance with OSHA permissible exposure levels (PEL's) and short term exposure levels (STEL's). Larger air sampling pumps are also available for fixed-base sampling projects such as the monitoring of air proximate to a given industrial process.
Trace Laboratories also provides sample collection and analytical services for outdoor air and stack monitoring projects. Our staff has been actively involved with the collection and analysis of air contaminants migrating from the excavation of a hazardous materials site. Volatile organic vapors, PCB's, pesticides and trace metals are some of the constituents we have been required to monitor at site boundary lines. Trace has also conducted limited stack testing projects for various Michigan industries for particulates, trace metals and volatile organic compounds.
