Mold spores and pollen analytical capabilities
Mold spores and pollen are frequently responsible for poor indoor air quality. A musty odor is one of the first indications that molds are present and could be the cause of personal discomfort. Trace now has the personnel and equipment to find and identify molds (including black mold) and pollen that can lead to allergic reactions and respiratory difficulties for sensitive individuals.

Low-level mercury testing
Trace has been analyzing samples for NPDES permit applications requiring low-level Mercury analysis by EPA 1631 since 2001. Trace is listed by the State of Michigan as being able to meet the required detecting levels.

Forensic analytical capabilities
Trace has state-of-the-art instrumentation to support forensic investigations. This instrumentation includes gas chromatographs, mass spectrometers, FTIR, NMR, ICPMS, as well as phase contrast and polarized light microscopes.
Dr. William Schroeder, a Ph.D. chemist with over 40 years of experience, oversees this segment of Trace. His expertise in organic and inorganic chemistry, along with his ability to provide expert witness testimony, has proven beneficial to legal firms and insurance companies. Our staff of chemists and technicians assist Dr. Schroeder by performing sample preparation and analytical techniques.
