The use of mobile laboratories as an aid to field investigations dates back to the late 1980's when the laboratory itself was frequently nothing more than the vacant corner of an on-site building, cargo trailer, or modified utility van. The analytical instruments contained within were usually simplistic, generally offering screening-level quality data. Trace has advanced the mobile laboratory concept to the utilization of specially built laboratory trailers equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation. Today, we can produce quality data in the field, comparable to that generated by our fixed-base laboratory.

Our laboratories are equipped with modern gas chromatograph/mass spectrometers (GC/MS) to analyze water, soil, and air samples for volatile components. The mobile laboratory itself is a scaled down version of its fixed-base counterpart, with climate control, options for portable power sources, computers and fume hoods. Our mobile laboratories can perform very detailed and complex U.S. EPA methods, including the 600 (Clean Water ACT) as well as the SW-846 (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) methods. Results for most analyses can provide valuable data to on-site field personnel within 45 minutes after sample collection.

Our mobile laboratory facilities are staffed with environmental chemists, experienced in the tests being conducted. Their expertise, coupled with the utilization of state-of-the-art instrumentation, gives you the assurance needed to make critical decisions in the field. Most of Trace's mobile laboratory clients have found them to be an economical alternative to the fixed-base laboratory when turn-around-time is critical.
