Servicing clients throughout the United States, Trace Analytical Laboratories, Inc. (Trace), is a leading independent environmental testing laboratory. Trace is dedicated to providing prompt, accurate analysis of potential contaminants in water, air, soil, sludge, hazardous waste, and sediment.

We are committed to the quality, traceability, and defensibility of data. Trace's Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program is centered around this commitment. All records are complete and retrievable. Trace works with its clients from initial project planning through final report preparation and interpretation. The quality of the data provides a greater benefit to the client when the laboratory is involved in project analytical needs.

Trace is accredited by the National Environmental Laboratory Accrediation Program (NELAP) and provides analytical services in compliance with the requirements of the Department of Defense Quality Systems Manual for Environmental Laboratories to support Department of Defense projects (e.g. USACE, AFCEE, U.S. Navy).

Trace services include organic, inorganic, and metals analyses in support of CERCLA, SARA, RCRA, SDWA, CWA, the Clean Air Act, and other EPA regulatory programs.

Mobile laboratory services are also provided by Trace. Our mobile laboratory uses standard laboratory instrumentation and can analyze for any compounds under method SW-846, 8260, or EPA 624. Trace's mobile laboratory can provide the client with on-site screening or laboratory-quality data.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control
Trace follows a formal, written, Quality Assurance/Quality Control program which meets or exceeds EPA guidelines. We also participate in the EPA's Water Pollution (WP) and Water Supply (WS) proficiency testing programs and maintain a program of blind proficiency testing.

Turnaround Times
Standard turnaround time is 5 - 10 business days for most projects. Larger, more complex projects may have longer turnaround times of 2 - 3 weeks. Faster turnaround times may be possible depending on the availability of laboratory resources and the project scope. Please call the laboratory to request a rush turnaround time before sample submission.

Certifications
Trace is accredited by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) and holds certifications from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the State of Wisconsin.

Data Reporting
Level I This report includes tabulated results, receipt and analyses dates, method numbers, sample descriptions, detection limits, and qualifiers (if needed).
Level II This report includes all items from the Level I report and adds results of internal batch Quality Control (QC) analyses associated with the samples. The QC results include surrogate recoveries, matrix spike, method blanks, and laboratory control samples.
Level III This report includes all items from the Level II report and adds raw data.
Level IV This report includes all items from the Level III report and adds CLP-like forms where applicable.

Sample containers
Sample containers, coolers, labels, custody seals, trip blanks, temperature blanks, chain-of-custody forms and shipment to the client via UPS Ground are included in Trace's fees.

Sample disposal
Samples are retained for 45 days. Samples are disposed of at the end of 45 days unless advance arrangements are made with Trace for sample return, or a longer storage time.
